Over the last four decades Lynn Schwartz have worked as a practitioner of all types of photography including portraits, weddings, travel, and landscapes.
About ten years ago I went back to my first love of travel and landscape photography. It is my plan to travel the entire world and share my photographs with you. I’ve participated in several photography contests, including 1st place at Abbott North western’s art show and won third place in photography at the South Florida County Fair in 1980. I also display and sell my work at various venues across Minnesota.
Since restarting this journey I have traveled to several National Parks, such as Yellowstone, the Grand Teton, Arches, and Canyonlands. Often traveling alone, occasionally joining a photography group, I made it a point to give myself some extra time to explore sights along the way. I have also traveled to several countries such as China, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Panama, and Vietnam. While crossing the Panama Canal on the way to Costa Rica, my camera was knocked off a table. The incident fractured the filter on the front of my only lens, making it unusable. This presented me with the unique challenge of preserving my experiences in Costa Rica using only my phone’s camera, which I had never before done. Regardless of the many obstacles that I have encountered on my travels, my passion for memorializing my experiences and the places I traveled always kept me moving forward.
In the spring of 2021 I had a severe ankle injury, which put a temporary hold on my plans of going to events most weekends and finding new adventures to photograph. At that point, I started an online presence by building my first website, renaming the company to Photos by Lynn 13 and creating a new website of the same name. This was to be the reincarnation of my business. In 2022, I started my Etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/photosbylynn13. Being unable to display my work at the art shows I attended in the past, I was determined to continue sharing and showing others my perspective of the world.
By taking masterclasses and teaching myself how to edit photographs, I was able to recreate my previous art and turn it into a new perspective. During the two years dealing with my broken ankle, attempting to recover, I made it a goal to post one photograph per week to my Etsy store. Even though it was a challenge navigating the new technology, most weeks I was able to meet my goal. I feel exuberant every time I finish editing a picture and view the finished product. I revel in the progress I have made in the editing process. At times I can’t believe how far I’ve brought myself into the virtual world.
I hope you enjoy my photographs as much as I enjoyed creating them. Feel free to contact me if you’d like to know more about my art or me. At the latest by fall of 2023 my work will be available on 5×7 cards with or without customization. I also do family and senior portrait in queen city area of Minnesota.
